The Awakening Of The Giant
Event Report:
Alhamdullihah on the 14th Of March 2009 in Masjid Ar Rahman 160 Muslim youth from Camden, Islington and Westminster attended the big event titled "Awakening of the Giant".
This event was to commemorate and remember the destruction of the Islamic state on the 3rd of March 1924. That is has been 85 years since this great catastrophe and to look at the impact this has had on the muslim ummah. In addition the event looked at how afetr 85 years of non islamic rule we see the ummah yearning for a retrun to living by the Shariah and that the ummah is a Giant the is about to retake its global position via a united islamic State (Khilafah).
The chair of the event was brother Jamil Abu Rayyan who is a well known local dawah carrier who has been active in the deen for the last 15 years. There was quranic recitation by brother Saeed Chowdhury who is currently studying to memorise the whole Quran (Hifz) and is also a well known dawah carrier from the Chalk Farm/Kentish town area.
The first speech was given by brother Taji Mustafa and it was titled '85 years since the destruction of the Khilafah'. Taji Mustafa is a well know personality and a representative of Hizb ut Tahrir Britain. Taji has attended and contributed to numerous tv programmes, debates and discussions dealing with issues from shariah, khilafah, attacks on Islam, attacks on the nobl;e Prophets (saw) and the governments agenda to subvert the growing call for political Islam. Taji is also an international speaker who recently attended the International Islamic Economics conference in Sudan.
Taji enlightened the audience by discussing how the khilafah state was established by the Prophet (saw) and that the history of Islam for over 1300 years was under the islamic state. Taji went further by dicussing the downfall of the islamic state and the impact it has had on the ummah. He summarised by saying that the ummah has started to return back to her deen and that this Giant (ummah) is about to retake her rightful position in the world by reclaiming her inheritance and heritage i.e. the khilafah state.
The second speaker was Sheikh Abu Hasan Al Ansari who is an eminent scholar from Kuwait. Sheikh Abu Hasan Al Ansari is a graduate from Al Azhar university in Egypt . He has ijaza in fiqh and has been teaching fiqh for the last 20 years in the university of Kuwait. The sheikh is also a prominent leading member of Hizb-ut-Tahrir (Wilayah Kuwait).
The Sheikh discussed about the necessity of being part of this revival as it is clear that the revival of the ummah is already underway. He discussed that working for the return of the Khilafah is the mother of all fards and is one of the greatest sunnahs of the Prophet (saw). He said that working for the Khilafah without doubt is one of the most rewardable acts if not the greatest. Furthermore, the sheikh emphasised the role of the youth in this work and that the youth have the necessary energy to realise this objective.
After the talks there was a very lively Q&A session where many questions were asked in relation to unity and practical actions that we can do.
Finally, food was served and the audience had a chance to mingle and dicuss further.
